Alicia Green is responsible for maintaining the Buehler Enabling Garden as a hands-on teaching garden and for delivering therapeutic horticulture programs. Green also manages a staff of 40 volunteers who assist with garden maintenance and promoting the mission of the Enabling Garden as a barrier-free garden. She has a B.A. in biology from the University of Illinois with an emphasis in ornamental horticulture and began her career at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø in 2000 as the nursery grower. She continued to gain experience in interior landscaping, exterior landscaping, high-end garden retail, and holiday design. She obtained a master's degree in counseling from Northeastern Illinois University in 2009 and is a national certified counselor as well as a registered horticultural therapist.

Laurie Dettmers obtained her Horticultural Therapy certification through the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø in 2009. She completed a six-month internship under the guidance of Gene Rothert. She is currently the Therapeutic Horticultural Coordinator at Windy City Harvest, the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s Urban Agriculture department. She leads plant-based activities at different sites throughout the south and west side of Chicago. Prior to her work at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, Laurie worked for 12 years at rehabilitation hospitals throughout Chicagoland. She has completed her Master Gardner certification and her Master Naturalist certification through the University of IL Extension. She has worked as a Greenhouse Manager for six years and continues to do landscaping. Laurie resides outside of Chicago with her family. She loves gardening, weaving, and hiking.
